White Stag Leadership Development Program

White Stag has been training and developing youth since 1958. White Stag Leadership Development Academy, Inc. is a non-profit 501C3, all-volunteer organization which sponsors Scouts BSA, Venturing Crew 122 and runs the White Stag Leadership Development Training. The program teaches leadership skills to youth and adults from a set of eleven specific leadership competencies.

Eleven Core Competencies Taught by the Program

  • Controlling your group’s performance

  • Understand group needs & characteristics

  • Planning and decision making

  • Managing the learning by using goals & objectives

  • Setting the example

The Aims of White Stag for the Personal Growth of Each Individual

  • Leadership Development:  Inspiring individuals to engage life as an ongoing adventure, to challenge themselves, and to lead others to pursue excellence.

  • Character Development Motivating individuals to do what is right, no matter what, and to serve themselves and others.

  • Personal Fitness:  Encouraging individuals to accept physical and mental challenges, to surpass their expectations, expand their knowledge, skills, and abilities, and strive for continuous personal improvement.

  • Citizenship Training Helping individuals to develop a positive attitude, influence those around them, and actively participate in shaping their community.

During the 10 month Staff Development, Youth Staff members use the leadership skills they have learned while they plan the weeks of camp. Experienced Adult Advisors develop, coach and mentor the Youth during the training process.
